Opalescent carnival glass is fabricated by adding bone ash to the molten glass mix. The glass would then be cooled for a time. The manufacturer would then reheat and recool the glas. This process left a milky white appearance in the bottom of the glasses, and sometimes one would find a white streak on the sides or top of the glass.
Aqua is the most in demand color of opalescent carnival glass. It is second only to peach. These are the original colors of this type of carnival pieces, so they also tend to be the most saturated on the market. Their value is intrinsic, and their luster is impeccable. A true masterpiece in the glass realm. They are stunning and make ideal collector’s pieces.
